More about your Class 3 Individual DSC
Common questions before you apply. Tap any item to expand.
A Class 3 DSC is a cryptographic certificate that legally identifies you online — equivalent to your handwritten signature under the Information Technology Act, 2000. It's the only DSC class still issued in India (Class 1 and 2 were discontinued by CCA in January 2021). It's accepted for MCA21 filings, Income Tax e-filing, GST returns, DGFT, e-Tendering, patent and trademark filings, and many other government & private portals.
Both are CCA-licensed Certifying Authorities and produce equally valid DSCs. Pick based on preference:
- Capricorn — our standard option. Lowest price, fast turnaround, supported by every Indian portal.
- eMudhra — premium option. Many enterprise customers prefer eMudhra for brand recognition. Carries a small premium over Capricorn.
By law, your DSC private key must be stored on a tamper-resistant USB cryptographic token. If you already own a supported token (HyperPKI HYP2003, WatchData ProX, ePass 2003), select "I have a token" — we'll load the new DSC onto it. Otherwise pick "Buy New Token" and we'll ship one to you (free shipping in India, 24–48 hours).
Signature only lets you sign documents — sufficient for most filings (Income Tax, MCA21, GST, PDF signing, vendor onboarding).
Encryption Combo bundles a separate encryption certificate alongside the signing certificate. Required if you submit high-value bids on certain government tender portals where bid documents must be encrypted (in addition to signed).
- We email you a Video KYC link from the Certifying Authority (within 1 working hour).
- You upload your PAN and a recent photo through the CA portal.
- You record a 25-second self-verification video on your mobile or laptop.
- The CA approves and issues your DSC — usually 2–4 working hours after KYC.
- We load it on your USB token and ship it via DTDC (or you download it remotely if using your existing token).
You can pick 1, 2, or 3 years. During the validity period, sign as many documents as you want. After expiry the DSC stops working and you must apply afresh — DSC private keys are non-exportable by design, so a renewal is effectively a new application. We'll remind you 30 days before expiry.
